oh, I agree about how it's feeling right now, and yeah, the way this article is pointing out, it feels like the valley of the shaddow of death - but I was answering the question : Can Straight People Really be our Fiercest Advocates? They can, and will have to be, in order to be on equal ground.
The whole idea of becoming accepted as an equal, is winning advocacy within the heterosexual community. Point blank, they HAVE to be our fiercest advocate for acceptance. What is more fierce then advocating (standing up for) for the rights of others? The minds of the heterosexual community must...
A dollar bill - that was bestowed upon my path at work one night. I traded it out and carried it ever since. It was penned all over with this: God bless this imperialist, money-hungry economy, err, country! God bless this plutocracy! Don't know what that means? Well look it up great American! God...
Not sure I get it. Gotta go, my tomato sauce is calling me...
I don't know how anyone in NYC can still smoke. It's what, up to $8 a pack now? F that! Over the years, I spent close to $30,000 on ciggeretts. And to think some rich white man is living extremly large because of my addiction - one, that half the time, I could not afford. My son is about to get a...
I remember a point when some lesbians were upset because of the main stream stereotype that lesbians were agressive and man-ly. "L word" comes out and lesbians are up in arms because femme doesn't represent them. Half the time HRC frustrastes me for taking anything gay to a certain bar - if it...
See, just in going from radio to TV, the showed made progress in it's self. First being main characters, whom were black, to being played by black actors. Like politics, it's not perfect...but it worked in paving the road to today.
The reason why the actors are honored is because of the show. And in honoring the actors, it's honoring the show.
I agree, and all though I'm not a reality TV fan, I still support and applaud Ilene for reaching for more. She does whatever it takes to make it happen. Why..? To change TV & real life into being more accepting.... Sometimes we have to step forward to land where we step back...just to weave in...
The ladies & gentlmen who starred on Amos & Andy are highly honored within the black community. And as controvercial and full of stereotyping into being degrading, it was still groundbreaking. These were main characters that were not white.
What I find in your post is compelling and very true, but as point out there are groups of white lesbian Hollywood...that won't even write & direct & produce about diversity. Maybe this is one of those groups? I know, it's lesbians...it's diversity. No. Diversity is beyond lesbian. It's...
I understand the frustration, Grace. I think these women actually know one another due to their field in WeHo. It's an actual glimpse into their lives, unlike other reality shows that smash together people together and watch them work it out. These women are an L word group. Unfortunately, not all...
I haven't even begin to read the rest of the comments, but judging from yours, there was a lot of boos on his standing up for this DADT. I. Agree. With. You. Choi standing up in protest. Chaining himself to the fence. Is a peaceful act...and yet loud. He got people to hear him. If Lt. Choi was a...
*sigh* Patrice, could you do me a favor?
Guess that means waiting till it's actually available. Maybe by 2012.
I have no clue. I guess I will have insurance as soon as he signs. Or at least say I'm covered and need not worry in case of an emergency. By the way I saw this doctor who only accepts cash. He refuses to deal with insurance companies, because it wastes his time and costs too much money! He charges...
Depends...
ps,
Rest in Peace, Corey!
Addiction is very serious and can shrink your life. Addiction to drugs, including alcohol, is very serious. The poisons that are induced wreak havoc on the brain's balancing of it's own chemicals.
I can see in certain situations the one who ends the realtionship does it with a caring heart.
