Emotions, and the heat, are running high in New York City this week—the City celebrates Pride this weekend, and ALL THE THINGS! DYKES! are coming out of the woodwork to celebrate our community. It's a good time, summer is officially here (well, almost), and, according to our dear Tosha, the "turning around" of Venus and Saturn on the 25th will precipitate major changes in our lives; things that have felt unsettled or out of place will become settled and resolve themselves. (And this makes me both anxious and relieved at the same time.)

This will also be the last "This Week Belong To" until August—sad to say, but I'll be abroad and am really looking forward to de-chaining myself from my computer. This is what I hope next month will look like:

This week belongs to:

> Vagina! Just kidding—it goes to Michigan Democratic State Rep. Lisa Brown, who told fellow Michigan lawmakers that, while she's flattered that they can't stop thinking (and legislating) about her vag, "no means 'no.'" She performed Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues" on the steps of the State House yesterday afternoon, you know, to stick it to The Man:

> For lesbians, feminine or masculine or both, who are into fashion, this week also goes to the Les Fashion Blog, Dyke Duds, which is tres adorable and really well-written and on spot with chic fashion that isn't too hipster/po-mo/let-me-wear-a-trash-bag-Olsen-Twin inspired, ya know?

> Another blog that you should check out is by my sweet interweb-friend Cori Wong called "Little Bird, Poet Tree," which is probably-without-a-doubt my favorite blog out there in Virtual Land. Usually I find blogs just virtual spaces of narcissism, and totally fatuous (which sits in contrast to major media sites like Gawker and Jezebel that are driven by a hipster petulant sense of irony and bits of sarcasm...which I eat up, of course!). Cori's posts are so smart and so thought-provoking and so sense-full (yes, in that Deleuzian sense). She also writes a lot about Nietzsche—what more could you ask for? (especially for some summer reading?)

> Qian Jinfan, "a 84-year-old calligrapher, art critic and retired government official based in Foshan," who, according to the Shanghaiist, "has become China's oldest openly transgender individual, after outing herself in an an exclusive interview with the Southern Metropolitan Daily, in her bid to promote understanding of transgenders in China." Jinfan always felt she was a girl but did not begin to transition until she was 80 years old, in 2008, when she began taking hormones and dressing as a woman.

> And, finally, this week belongs to all those L-B-T films that are hitting the LGBT film festivals this summer, from Outfest in L.A. to QFest in Philly. Please support the LGBT cinematic arts! Go to a screening, meet a few queers, create new networks and expand your queer community. Queer cinema is getting really good—and I mean RILLY GOOD....in part because films are thematically moving away from the overdone "coming out" (I-want-to-kill-myself) story and exploring others issues that affect our lives, beyond that single moment of self-interpolation into the world, i.e., "I'm a raging homosexual." I recommend Audre Lorde—The Berlin Years, United in Anger: A History of Act Up, Cheryl Dunye's Mommy is Coming, and my dear, sweet Nicole Conn's A Perfect Ending.  But these are just a handful of the amazing selection of films that will be coming to a theater near you this summer; so, when you need some A.C., what better excuse?
