With a hit like We Are Young featuring Janelle Monáe the indie pop group Fun. has hit their stride. Nate Ruess (from The Format), Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff formed the new band in 2008 after Ruess's band The Format disbanded, while Dost and Antonoff left their bands Steel Train and Anathallo, to join him.
Fun is this quirky band that managed to mix their indie edge with audio tunes and surprisingly meaningful lyrics. While most of their music might not be heard in a dance club it can easily be mixed into a playlist for house parties, train rides and any other random playlist that you can think of.
Under the layer of tailored suits you will find a finely tuned trio that complement each other musically. I first came across the band when their song We Are Young came out and it was being played everywhere. But I soon realize that I became attached to to other tracks like, Carry On, It Gets Better, All Alright, Stars and Some Nights (Also the the name of their current album).
Fun. - We Are Young Featuring Janelle Monáe (Acoustic Version)
In my opinion Some Nights (2012) has something for everyone. I encourage everyone to just take a listen and if you like it go back to their first album Aim and Ignite.
