Melissa Harris-Perry is without a doubt the most refreshing face on television today. Her weekend program on MSNBC—the same program that hosted the historic trans* panel a few weeks ago with Kate Bornstein, Mel Wymore and others—attends to issues that the national news tends to overlook, and her attention to these issues incorporates discussion with a wide variety of people—women, gay women, trans* women, women of color, etc etc.
Her segment on arts funding is a clear indication of the dire state of arts in Amercia.
