The day has arrived, kittens, and the 52nd annual Grammy Awards ceremony will air tonight! With performances expected from Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Pink, Mary J. Blige, Roberta Flack, The Black Eyed Peas, Jeff Beck, Eminem, Dave Matthews Band, and plenty of other musical luminaries, tonight's ceremony promises to pack one helluva punch!
The Grammys will be broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT. And if you're a poor bastard who's not on Eastern time, like me, but you still want to be able to watch and comment right here with the folks who get to watch it first, you can catch an online stream of the show. I'll be posting links to viable streams as soon as I find them as the broadcast gets underway tonight at 8 p.m. ET, so check the comments thread below for more details. And if you're watching tonight, be sure to join in on the shameless fannishness and EPIC SMACK TALK we'll be engaging in right here on Velvetpark during the show!
So who's your money on for tonight's award winners? You'll never ever guess who I think is going to sweep 'em...

*Updated
11:53 P.M. Okay, so Gaga didn't clean up at the Grammys as I had hoped, but even Celine Dion made proper obeisance to the new reigning Queen of Pop at tonight's ceremony, for which I am willing to publically forgive her for "My Heart Will Go On." And on. And on. And on...

Sonuvawhore. I missed most of the Gaga performance because I didn't have a good feed stream. Can someone recap for me?
Edited to add: Colbert, to his teenage daughter: "Okay, honey, have fun. Stay away from Katy Perry." HAHAHAHAHA!

Lady Gaga is due onstage to kick off the show in 2 minutes! Rumors have been swirling about her performance. Word is she'll be joined onstage by Elton John, and she promised her little monsters something "little monster"-y to do with her piano tonight...

The offifical stream is finally showing red carpet footage, with real interviews and actual SOUND! Woohoo.
Also, Amy and I have just acted unilaterally to adopt Justin Bieber as an honorary teen lezzie heartthrob baby butch. If I were 14, I would have pictures of him plastered all over my room and I would make out with my pillow pretending I was kissing him (also, pretending that he was a girl).

gold and silver are the colors this year! Katy Perry's dress isn't cute.

come on
Beyonce needs to stop with the old lady gowns.
Green Day have arrived, and
Green Day have arrived, and if I may say so, they get GAYER and GAYER looking every year. Srsly. They are one highlighted-hairdo short of a gay teenybopper boy band.
Lady Gaga has arrived!

She was wearing what can only be described as the gown of a sci-fi star goddess-turned-Hollywood-starlet, rocking long yellow (not blond, yellow) locks and, by the looks of them, Cinderella-inspired (i.e. teeeeny, tiny footbindy ouchy-looking) Alexander McQueen platform heels.

You forgot the translucent amethyst effect.
Indeed. I am finding her
Indeed. I am finding her braids oddly Avatar-y.
Her Center
I think they should call the gown The Center of the Univers. I just saw yellow for the hair, but I came into the carpet show late and just caught a background picture.
ok
It was ok. Let's hope for several costume changes. I'm loving how she's in full character, moving all slow and almost robot-like. Or more like queen in a parade with that slow wave.
I hope she does multiple
I hope she does multiple costume changes, too! There were SEVEN at the VMAs. For those who missed it, here's a pic of Gaga on the red carpet a few minutes ago: http://twitpic.com/10rvms

She tweeted a little while ago that she cried so hard when she heard she had already won two Grammys during the pre-show that she ruined her make-up!

Edited to add: I really hope that's Tony Bennet's daughter on the red carpet, because otherwise? Ew.
Congrats to Sharon Isbin
Neat! Classical Guitarist Sharon Isbin, who guested on The L Word and lusted (very) briefly after a newly single Bette, just won her second Grammy.

Slim shady taste in music
I was just listening to an Eminem song on my way home from the basketball game. Yes, my friends, I own some Eminem. There's no accounting for my taste in music. It's a bit slim shady.
Still searching for the right brainy quote.
ha!
"Lose Yourself," is one of my favs along with "Superman."

I'll be here!
Must admit I haven't kept up with the music this past year - too many distractions - that is some sorry excuse! Thanks for linking the nominated - geezy, there are a lot of oldies...Bob Dylan, Prince, John Fogerty, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood, Tony Bennett, Liza Minnelli, Willie Nelson.... Honestly, I'm pulling for Lady Gaga, but who can not like a group named LMFAO? And I love The Black Eyed Peas and "Boom Boom Pow"! Would like to see Colbie Caillat recognized - I've loved her music for some time...along with Kelly Clarkson. I'm going to predict Chris Botti for Best Pop Instrumental Album, Herb Alpert for Best Pop Instrumental Performance, Jason Mraz for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and Willie Nelson & Norah Jones for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.....sentimental favorites! See you later....
