Julia: Oh, 2009. Already I pine for you. You brought so much pop culture goodness our way.
Amy: Indeed 'twas a great year for gossip and TV! So much fun, to help us forget all of the mess (healthcare, the economy) that we're dealing with in real life – even if for just a half hour at a time.
Julia: Amen. Life without fluff would be so dreary. So let's dig in. And perhaps we should start with the obvious... Ding dong, the bitch is finally dead. (Bitch = Jenny Schecter.) I don't know why. I don't know who. But Halle-mother-humping-lu. (Jah.)
Amy: Praise the Goddesses from the heavens, trees and earth, lesbians are free to spend their Sunday nights at full moon circles, or watching football, depending on what kind of lez you are.
Julia: Or watching True Blood and wishing Pam would fangbang Sookie.
Amy: Ah TB, I was late to the trend, and oh how sorry I am! It's embarrassing. But now I'm totes into it and loving every second!
Julia: Better late than never! The demise of The L Word was rough to watch. The last season was so bad that the one stand-out funny episode ("LMAO," directed by Angela Robinson) was funny precisely because it seemed like the characters were finally laughing along with the audience at how ridiculously bad the show had become.

As long as we don't have to call them Pookie!
Amy: It was fitting that the last season was horrible; it made it even easier to not miss it.
Julia: Right?! It was a relief to have it be over.
Amy: Moving along, and because I know you are chomping at the bit...
Julia: Ha.
Amy: Your girl...
Julia: My girl!
Amy: LGG!
Julia: It was a big year for Gaga and the Little Monster Nation.
Amy: Srsly.
Julia: I thought her signature move this year was the VMA's performance of "Paparazzi."
Amy: I agree. It was epic.
Julia: It really was. It was fucking genius. Hands down the savviest take on our whacked out fame-obsessed, celebrity-stalking culture I’ve seen in freaking forever.

Two of Gaga's many monster looks from the VMAs.
Amy: Controversial, art genius, not to mention her costume changes throughout the night.
Julia: I know, I loved the red

Maddow?
Lady Gaga = Inspired!
Kanye = they blamed drink, but I think he was having a mental health 'moment'. It's more socially acceptable to blame the booze.
Susan Boyle = they were playing her CD to death over here at Christmas shopping time. It wasn't that bad and her high notes were impressive. Nothing fake or over-produced like so many cds now ... she can sing. I wouldn't buy it though ... that would be a bit Nana-ish!
Balloon Boy = how people could sell their own family out, like that is unreal. The reality is, this couple will never get employed by anyone ever again, so we will most likely see them making their living starving on an island somewhere or jumping through hoops on tv.
Poor Falcon will need money for therapy, over the fact the news tape of him landing his parent's in it and throwing up on tv, will be on YouTube for life. Happy memories.
GLEE = I admit ... I probably wouldn't tune in to Glee each week, if it wasn't for Jane Lynch ... she's a delight.
Lindsay Lohan = now is not the time to turn, on Linds ... have we not learned how that turns out? ... The Tough Love concept is flawed and ends in people being more isolated in their problems and often ends badly. Lindsay needs positive support
Twitter = I've had to give up the twitter, as I can't figure out how people do this and maintain a real job at the same time. Do people spend all day looking down at their phone? ... At least with fb it's easy to catch up, whereas with twitter you almost go blind getting through the days tweets
Rachel Maddow.
Rachel Maddow.
If it was cool or important 09
Rachel was there. How could we have managed without her?
Exactly
Butch visibility; geek girl pride; spectacle fashion; cocktail history/art; ethics; brainy humour:
Memorable moment of '09 would be teabagging talk with Ana Marie Cox

Joanne, you are sooooo right about Twitter
And, while we're on the subject of Twitter - why would anyone want to tell the whole world what they're doing every 10 minutes? I mean, are people really that full of themselves. It's really rather sad...
Just a random rant. No biggie.
*definately not directed towards you Joanne*
I mean really
I wish I had things to tweet about! ... but I'm not a DJ, actor, tv presenter, singer, computer geek or lesbian media founder
To Twitter you need a career that allows you to be on the computer/phone all day and not really concentrating on work
Joanne...
You are adorable.
Get a room or else I'm going
Get a room or else I'm going to send you two a "hook up" request!
Hey! For some of us,
Hey! For some of us, following important breaking news on the interwebs all day long IS our job! (Only when I say "important breaking news," I really mean the most delightful pop culture fluff I can comb from that big cotton candy spinner in the sky.)
Glambert...
"Damn. He's so pretty I'd do him!"
Get in line gf...
The Kid Who Won Christmas
Speaking of memorable—I got this from Topless Robot and they got it from Geeks are Sexy. Make sure you stick around for the slo-mo

"When you look for the bad in mankind expecting to find it, you surely will." ~ Pollyanna
lmao
That is kind of what I looked like last week when I opened my deluxe, limited collector's edition of The Fame Monster, which came complete with paper dolls to dress up, a jigsaw puzzle, and an actual lock of hair from one of Gaga's wigs, worn by her onstage.
Maybe I started petting it and referring to it as "myy preecccccioussss!" Maybe I didn't. You'll never know! Mwahahaha.
Julia... (off topic)
Your new picture is beautiful.
Thanks! You are such a flirt
Thanks! You are such a flirt tonight.
What is life without fluff?
I am so happy to have you to keep me abreast of the fluff!
I want to give an honorable mention to the characters Olivia and Natasha on the dearly departed afternoon soap, the Guiding Light.
Jane Lynch is DeLynchous!
Civility is not a sign of weakness.
Fluff-a-Nutter
Did someone mention Fluff-a-nutter? That sounds really good. Its still the holiday season, right? The waiver for junk food based in child memories is still in place?
