Stiletto Party

As most New Yorkers know, August in the city can be pretty tedious. It’s the time of year when the sidewalks start to actually retain heat, transforming our fair city into what my friends and I lovingly refer to as “the tandoor,” as it resembles nothing so much as a steam-blasting clay oven, slowly cooking the meat off your bones. Everyone who has a country house heads for the hills, and those of us who are left end up feeling a bit…limp.

But fear not, bois n’ grrlz! There is one rockin’ girl party this weekend that you do not want to miss. Party promoter Maggie C and Camp Beaverton for Wayward Girls invite you to come on out to Stiletto this Sunday, August 15th, for a massive queer girls’ fundraiser party for Burning Man!

Admittance is by donation; just like The Met, no one will be turned away for bein’ a cheapskate (though we are hoping you’ll agree that this shit is worth $10). DJs Glaza and Heather M will be in the house, along with a kissing booth, drag king lap dances, and burlesque body shots. Let me repeat that: I said DRAG KING LAP DANCES and BURLESQUE BODY SHOTS. Want more? We’ll be raffling off some choice toys from Wet for Her (including that much-discussed finger dildo), Camp Beaverton for Wayward Girls T-shirts, and a sushi dinner for two prepared by none other than yours truly (yes, I have made sushi professionally before; and no, I have never given anyone food poisoning). Come party with the Beavs, and help us bring queer women’s community to Burning Man!

What do we need your hard-earned greenbacks for, anyway? Check out this short vid to see what it’s all about:

For those outside NYC who can’t make it to our shindig, but still wanna throw down a few bones for the cause, please visit our Kickstarter page here.

So I just did (much) more

So I just did (much) more reading on Burning Man than I intended to (helluva good website!), but I didn't encounter much about demographics.  Its founders were all men and it appears still largely run by men, but I'm curious if any of them are queer.  And what about the overall presence of women, not just queer women?

Good luck with the party and fundraising!

I have a friend who's been a couple of times.  She's (mostly) straight & hasn't ever mentioned how many women are typically there but if you're really curious I could ask.

good question

that's a good question, guys; since this is my first time going, I can't answer with any certainty, but I will say that everyone who has ever told me about burning man or asked me to come to burning man has been a woman. I shall report back from the playa!

That's interesting because

That's interesting because everything I read about it seemed to radiate boy energy, even the artwork.  So yeah, see what you can find out when you're there.  I guess I'm just curious how readily woman and queers were able to carve a space for themselves.

Do you get a graphic box?

I can see a box with what looks like part of an add, but there is no video play button. Soooo mean to tease us like this!  Sad
