This Thursday, 16 August (the eve of the Pussy Riot trial verdict), a series of readings of the band's court room statements will be read by an amazing ensemble of queers and feminists, including:
> Chloe Sevigny
>Eileen Myles
>Karen Finley
>Johanna Fateman
>Justin Vivian Bond
Pussy Riot, consisting of the trio Katja Samutsevich, Nadia Tolokonnikova , Masha Alyekhina, are on trial for their act of "hooliganism"—a feminist critique of Putin and the Russian nation-state—at a Moscow cathedral earlier this year. They are facing multiple years behind bars, and artists and activists aroudn the globe are rallying to their side.
This event, intended to raise awareness about the trial and the impending verdict, as well as to promote a collective feminist consciousness on an international level, will take place within Liberty Hall at the Ace Hotel in Manhattan. Doors open at 730pm and the event is free and open to the public.

For more information, go to the event's Facebook page and the Free Pussy Riot website.
