The Revolution Will Be Tweeted: Proposition 8, The Battle for Equality

New Yorker writer, Margaret Talbot, has been blogging almost daily about the Proposition 8 trial going on in San Fransisco. Although she works in D.C. Talbot has been following the live tweeting from both sides of the battle by citizen journalists who are able to attended the courtroom proceedings daily.

It seems almost every legal expert believes that the Prop 8 trial, which is destined to end up in the Supreme Court, is one of the most significant and historic trials of our generation. So while the Right won the right not to have the trial broadcast by video, the twitter brigade made up of both opponents and supporters of the measure, are documenting the proceedings in real time. Through this piece meal journalism, Talbot has been able to weave together a cohesive narrative as it unfolds.

While our legislators continue their partisan muddle, and our LGBT leaders fret over the year they wasted having tea and cookies in the White House, We turn our attention to this trial as perhaps the most important gain we may have in our civil rights.
