Rachel Maddow High School Photo A Fake?
Apparently David Vitter looked just like Rachel Maddow in his High School yearbook.
People is anyone questioning the photo of Rachel Maddow's alleged femmery that has been circling the the interwebs like a a bad clown rodeo? Or have we all accepted lock stock and smoking barrel the wizardry of Photoshop?
Give a kid a couple Google images and 10 minutes...
I hate conspiracy theories, but in everyone's race to de-butch a butch, or demean a women by saying she looks like a man (someone please explain why this is even an insult, I just find it juvenile) has anyone verified the authenticity of this alleged high school photo of Rachel Maddow? bloggers from CNN to WaPo have jumped on this bandwagon. As far as I can tell the story originate with a site called Unamericana, a chronicle of American Stupidity. Um yeah, really credible journalism there guys.
Okay maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Rachel Maddow was a young debutant in High School. However, that certainly doesn't match up with her own description of herself in high school as "a cross between the jock and the antisocial girl." Here's Maddow at 21, in a profile for Out Magazine after she received her Rhodes Scholarship. Okay, a lot can happen to a kid between 18 and 21...
But I dunno, I just don't buy it.
Oh funny thing is I just found my yearbook photo and I also looked just like Rachel Maddow at 18.

From what I have read, Rachel's hometown was very conservative. She looks like a teenage female, from a middle class family...and Californian to boot. And possible even jocky.
Gooing from high school to college can drastically change someone's appearance...kids finally let their freedom and rebelling fly. Especially when coming out screaming...heads get shaved..and dyed...standing up and shoving in faces of who they are.......seriously, I say it's totally believable.
I say Rachel is gorgeous...either as a long haird blonde or as the gentle butch she has relaxed into being.

I didn't think anything of the hair color at first because most blonds start to lose their color in the mid-to-late twenties, and by thirtysomething they have to dye. But between 18 and 21? Really? (said in an Amy Poehler incredulous voice)

neck mole - IF it was photoshoped it was done by a genius. (I mean, I WOULDN'T have missed that detail obviously) but, usually it's simple screw ups that give away a fake. Like, missing moles or birthmarks.

Senior shots are not indicative of who you are
It's obviously a senior photo (no one goes around wearing velvet cowels) who knows from this pic how she chose to dress everyday for school. Maybe in jeans and a ponytail or maybe in dresses. Who cares? Very few people dress as adults the way they did in high school.

I know I don't, mostly because it takes a true masochist to wear plaid flannel in Texas. That and the fact that all the plaid shirts I see these days seem to have ruffles.

The years btw high school and college and the working world are dog years. I had a femmy phase right out of college into work for a few months just to cover up my total homo-ness. It didn't stick, obviously, but those photos still haunt me to this day. A-hole guys still think I should go back to the long skirts & hair because apparently I'll attract the woman I'm looking for. In reality, I'd only attract the woman I actually am. But can you blame her for femming it up for a minute? We all have our moments trying out new stuff...
