Penny Marshall's Memoir Queerly Dramatized

Penny Marshall, filmmaker and most beloved queer roommate Laverne (from Laverne & Shirley), has a new memoir, My Mother Was Nuts, which hits bookstores next Tuesday, 18 September. Marshall enlisted the help of SNL alum and Portlandia star Fred Armisen for some publicity:

Even though Marshall is not lesbian or a lesbian, she has been warmly accepted as "one of us" thanks to her forward-thinking 70s TV show—one of my favorites, and, I'm sure, a favorite among many a queer:

Nota bene: The Urban Dictionary has even immortalized the latent yet abundant queerness of Penny by coining the term "Penny Marshall": "[a] Penny Marshall is an older lesbian woman who seeks relationships ONLY with younger lesbian girls."

Nota bene-squared: I love myself a good Penny Marshall.
