Gov. Sarah Palin takes center stage with her announcement that she will be resigning on July 25th. Her resignation speech after the jump (is there someone out there who can interpret this?)
Peggy Noonon got it right the day Palin was nominated. She was caught making the following remarks live. She tried to backpedal but should have stuck with her initial reaction:
"It's over," Noonan said.
When Chuck Todd asked her if this was the most qualified woman the Republicans could nominate, Noonan responded, "The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives. Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and that's not what they're good at, they blow it."
i recommend the article because it's a point by point refutation of every reason ever floated to support SP's candidacy or political viability. working class? authenticity? point by point PN shoots them down with precision. it's a very thoughtful vivisection of a thoughtless politician and almost makes me respect republicans again.
A lot of fun has been poked at Sarah Palin, but let's not forget the f'tard who made her a "post turtle" - John McCain. This one went viral during the election, but just in case you missed it here it is again:
"While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.’
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.’
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain. ‘You know she didn’t get up there by herself, she doesn’t belong up there, she doesn’t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with."
"When you look for the bad in mankind expecting to find it, you surely will." ~ Pollyanna
The attempt to put a positive spin on the soon to be ex-Governor of Alaska's decision to quit her term early tips over on the same sad fact - she has a history of quitting:
- She quit 4 schools on the way to her degree in Journalism
- She quit as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission
- For all intents and purposes, she quit as mayor of Wasilla when she hired a City Manager to take care of the day to day operations
"When you look for the bad in mankind expecting to find it, you surely will." ~ Pollyanna
So....even though she's gone fishin,' Palin still manages to embarrass herself...
When asked how she could weather being president, given that fighting ethics complaints purportedly drove her from the governorship, Palin said:
"I think on a national level your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out."
Uh...sorry Sarah, the federal government doesn't have a "Department of Law."

Do you have any proof Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri has been freed? My information says he is still being held at Gitmo, pending a reinvestigation into the charges against him, and how evidence against him was obtained. Any of the others who were previously arrested either escaped captivity or were freed outright while being held in Yemen, long before Obama became a US Senator. The actual bombers, of course, are fish bait, kind of an occupational hazard for that sort. al-Nashiri isn't going anywhere, except maybe back to Yemen, where he will be executed (he was convicted in absentia for his alleged role in the USS Cole bombing).
As for your claims regarding the Heroes Ball...
Seems most veterans' groups, including the attendees of the Heroes Ball, understood that Obama could not make it due to security and logistics concerns. Biden was able to attend (his son is on active duty in Afghanistan). If the honorees didn't have an issue with this, why is it that you, a person who has never served one day in the US Military, feel offended?
All this concern for the military and veterans. But, it was the GOP who cut veterans' spending, who cut the VA budget (especially the hospitals), who tried to force military personnel to pay the cost for transporting them to Iraq and Afghanistan, who outsourced military jobs and functions to private, for-profit, transnational corporations whose only loyalty is to their next quarterly statement, not to the United States.
And Palin supported those policies, publicly, on national television, and on multiple occassions. Yeah, way to support "the troops" and our families.
As for your claims that Obama "quadrupled our debt," give me a break. Obama hasn't even come close to spending as much as King George did. George W. Bush managed to take a $1.6 trillion surplus and turn it into a $19 trillion deficit, by outspending and borrowing more than all previous administrations COMBINED.
BTW, most of that money is owed to the Peoples Republic of China. You remember them, don't you? They're the ones who force landed one of our US Navy intelligence aircraft, kept the aircraft and all its technology, and gave our military personnel back only after Bush gave promised them "Most Favored Nation" status, setting the stage for our economic collapse? The PRC is likely behind the security breach in many of our government's computer systems, given they've been trying to crack into our defense computers since 2001 (having leapfrogged technologically due to the aforementioned capture).
And, Palin supports those decisions as well.
I could go on, but why bother? These are non-issues for you neocons anyway. Palin and her supporters could care less about anything beyond getting rich at the expense of others by any means necessary, criminalizing "the gays," keeping their guns so they can shoot abortion doctors and non-Christians, and of course keeping China strong so they can buy cheap stuff at Wal Mart.
