The people being asked seem to talk around it, which makes me think that it is likely they are picking the venue most likely to get the result they want. On the other hand, some crimes took place on American soil, while some folks are being held for things that didn't actually happen here.

I believe cameras are currently forbidden in federal trials. That should help cut down on the circus atmosphere. But with the 24/7 news cycle it will get ugly.
