Mixtape Madness: Flight From Hell

Here's my dilemma, I was sitting between two crying babies who's parents where doing any and everything to get them quiet. So I decided to use all this free internet and download some songs that I've been meaning to listen to. Between moving, work and a host of other life decisions music can be a really good motivation to get things done.

This song just brings back memories of classic Mary. It displays her ability as an artist but mostly it shows just how soulful she is. I miss that about Mary. She has a voice that harbors both pain and hope. Her songs seem to connect to the pain, sorrow, hope and love that we all experience in life. I am so glad she got back to who she is the queen of Hip-hop/Soul

1. Ain't Nobody - Mary J. Blige

I think this is one of a hand full of songs on the albums that you can put on repeat and jam to during a house party. I really like Rihanna and I love this song but for some reason when I listen to her album I feel like it's lacking something. It's lacking the Rihanna of Rated R and and Good Girl Gone Bad.

2. Talk That Talk - Rihanna Featuring Jay Z

Since Beyonce's album 4 dropped I felt like something was different. I don't know. I will just call it the evolution of an artist but I not going to like I miss the Beyonce that dropped Single Ladies, Halo, Hello, and Dangerously in Love. But this song along with five others has been on rotation on the DJ mix I put together.

3. Party - Beyonce Featuring Andre 3000

I came across this song when a friend of mine asked me to make a break up mix for her. I personally like the song for what it is and its classic Daughtry. And on that note lets move on.

4. Crawling Back to You - Daughtry

I love Nickelback. The majority of their songs have a meaning behind them and this one is no different. This is one of those songs that makes you want to think about the state of the world and not just our Nation.

5. When We Stand Together - Nickelback

So I was snooping through my friends iPod and I found this song under the playlist called 'Motivation.' She plays it before she goes out to play a game (my friend is a professional soccer player). I always listen to all the upbeat and party songs by Katy Perry and never thought she would sing something like this. It's a good listen when you need a little motivation once in a while.

6. Who Am I Living For? - Katy Perry

This song is amazing. When I initially heard it I passed it over because I wanted to get to David Guetta's song Where Them Girls At, so I can have something to clean to but my iPod had other ideas and shuffled right back to it. I am glad that it did because Its a good song.

7. Without You - David Guetta Featuring Usher

To be completely honest I was suprised to hear a song like this come from Lil Wayne. I'm not saying that he doesn't show emotion in his songs (He has written songs about his father and daughter, and the breaking up of the Hot Boyz on multiple occasions) but this was a complete departure from his norm. It's kinda refreshing.

8. How Love - Lil Wayne

This is another lyrical hit in my opinion. People can say what they want about Jay-z and Kanye West, and how arrogant they are but their dedication to stretching themselves lyrically is unmatched.

9. Illest Motherfucker Alive - Jay-Z & Kanye West

There is obvious chemistry between the two artist. I mean this song can just be fuel to the flames that the two are dating or were dating. With references to both of their very public and nasty break-ups it seemed like this song was a closing chapter to the past and a possible open door to something news.

10. Take Care - Drake Featuring Usher

Honorable Mention:

1. The One That Got Away - Katy Perry
2. You da One - Rihanna
3. Papa Oom Mow Mow - Happy Feet Two Chorus

"How to Love" has become this

"How to Love" has become this ironic manifesto for me at this particular juncture...I LOVE demi lovato's version, too.

what's the deal with katy perry???? she confuses me, meaning her music confuses me (I've seen her E! Hollywood True Story a bajillion times already)
