My astoundingly talented young friend Megan McCormick first introduced me to Tommy Hans. I won his favor with tasty cupcakes; he won my heart with great music; we've not looked back since then.
As good as their new CD Shot for the Moon is, Tommy and the Whale's live show is even better. The songs totally come alive in that setting, with Kai blasting on the trumpet, Thomas laying down the bass, Nathan wailing on various guitars, Jamie keeping a swinging groove, and Tommy bringing it all together in front. They are the best of what a pop/rock/jam band should be - great, catchy songs that meander when they need to, though never without point or purpose.
