It is no surprise that hip hop is homophobic and the recent hit show Lie to Me on Fox tackled that subject in the matter of an hour-along giving The L Word lovers a taste of Jennifer Beals.
Beals guest starred in the recent episode as Assistant U.S. Attorney Zoe Landau investigating an arson case intertwined with cheating spouses and a news reporter caught in the middle. More importantly, her role could be a reoccurring one because she plays the mother of Dr. Cal Lightman's daughter Emily.
What caught my eye was the case Lightman’s protégé Ria Torres was dealing with. The death of a hip hop producer, murdered presumably because he switched camps. In hip hop lingo that means he stopped working for one rapper and decided to work for another, usually an enemy. Torres and her partner on the case uncovered the truth about the producer’s sexuality and the price of fame an artist in the world of hip hop has to pay if they want to be famous.
It was like a hip hop love story gone wrong. When money and power is threatened, some people will do anything to maintain the façade of the womanizing, money-grubbing and 'hood rich gangster to keep the cash flow rolling in.
Lie to Me airs every Wednesday night at 8 p.m.

What's with only streaming video clips within America? Do US companies realise the internets are a global toy?

Just completed watching this ep of Lie - my first. I liked it - it was okay - par for tv these days. But then I haven't been impressed with anything on tv since Northern Exposure or the original Star Trek.
Jennifer did well in it - I enjoyed seeing her here - working her craft. I didn't think about Bette while I watched it. Bette was Bette in TLW - it's done - Bette's done. I've moved on and it's for sure Jennifer has. Woman still looks fine in a black bra!

Hey Tex
Talking of good TV shows I am now hooked on The Wire. Viewing of the S1 DVD box set over the weekend was only interrupted to watch "Britain's Got Talent"! It has to be said that the US produces some outstanding TV shows.
Hope the road trip is going well!

Hey, Steph! How's it going on
Hey, Steph! How's it going on the Mother Isle, sweets? On an extended road trip here with a friend - taking in sites and hiking Colorado. My friend has to get in shape rather quickly, so I brought her here to do it! I can't think of a better place to get in shape. If she can do it at this elevation, she can do it any place! We're having a blast - a bunch of laughing is going on......and sore muscles! She says she need to add Textters to the Twitter blogs!
You take care, babe! Good to hear from you.....

Hey Tex - even better to hear from you, I have missed you!!
Regarding the Mother Isle - well, on a macro level things are pretty dire - the public finances have fallen through their own bumhole and we, the public, are going to be in debt for decades to come. On a more personal level I am doing just fine - enjoying spring and all the little pleasures that life throws my way.
Your trip sounds like an absolute blast - I wish I was there with you. And Textters sounds like a great idea!
Take care too, lovely Tex!!

It's still at the audition
It's still at the audition stages so we won't see Susan B until the next stage of the competition, which I guess will kick off in a couple of weeks from now!

did she have major challengers?
Thats must be hard for the other to come after her.
-Do not follow me, I'M LOST-
Well, the thing is, they
Well, the thing is, they wouldn't have known about Susan B at the time of the auditions so it's even more interesting. I have to say, there have been a few performers who have gone through to the next round, who are definitely going to give Susan a run for her money. But I would say that the publicity machine has, so far, been much greater around Susan than anyone else.
Don't get me started on THE
Don't get me started on THE WIRE--best show EVER, despite noticeable flaws, including the fact that the actress playing the lesbian cop is one of the weakest links.
It only gets better from season to season as the focus shifts, but the web of characters just keeps expanding. It's ruined all other crime show/police procedurals for me...
It's ruined all other TV
It's ruined all other TV shows for me!! Apart from Dexter of course. It is absolutely brilliant - one episode of Season 1 to go and then I shall be straight on Amazon ordering Season 2!!
I had no idea that McNulty and Stringer are Brits until someone at work told me. Just all round outstanding acting, apart from as you say, the lesbian cop.
I didn't know about McNulty
I didn't know about McNulty either until I watched the last season and he did the commentary for an episode he directed. And as for Stringer, you've just broken major news to me!
Amy Ryan is in Season 2 and she more than makes up for Kima's deficiencies. If you don't know Ryan's work, rent GONE BABY GONE, then watch her in WIRE and see how different she is--utterly brilliant! She's one of those actors who makes it look so effortless you don't realize at first how good she truly is.
Oooh, I like breaking major
Oooh, I like breaking major news!
Oh I thought Gone Baby Gone was excellent so I shall watch out for her in the next Season - thanks for the heads up.
I can hardly wait to get home and watch the last ep of S1 tonight - being sensible on a school night was the only thing that stopped me watching it last night!

oh my god Lucia you're so
oh my god Lucia you're so right. You bring up a great point. JB has always said that she hated it that ilene made Bette cheat. Now she's playing a straight woman who cheats on her fiance with her ex husband. Sound familiar? She said that she's so hppy to be on this show and that Tim Roth is a genius. So its okay to cheat on this show as a straight woman but not on the L-word?
Who thinks JB was just placating angry L-word fans? *Raise your handsA
"Fight Prime Time. Read a Book"
Peacekitty, Beals regretted
Peacekitty,
Beals regretted Bette's cheating because cheating did not fit Bette's upright character. She was not making a comment on the act of cheating, except that writing it into a script can be used as a cheap ploy for viewership. In Chaiken's case,, the motive was always the latter.
I'll be so glad when this website trades their L Word addiction for another and moves on...

Thank you, Miss IMDB.
Technically speaking, though, she doesn't make three movies a year--most of the credits are for television, not feature film.
And yeah, I think Xanadu was probably referring to the quality of the projects...

I didn't say anything about an acting desert. That was Xanadu.
However:"Terror Stalks the Class Reunion"??? I rest Xanadu's case about an acting desert. Hah.
