Today's GO Brooklyn Art, featured artist is Rachel Farmer. Inspired by ghostly ancestors both queer and Mormon, Rachel Farmer, fashions bonnet wearing pioneer figurines out of clay. These Broke Back Mountain meets Little House On The Prairie sculptures stage scenes from the Old West replete with hand carts, wooden tools and sexual undertones. Farmer will also be feature photos and videos of her figurines shot along the historic Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail, a series she completed this summer.
Farmers figurines as well as her clay shop will be open to the public for GOBrooklynArt.org. Farmer invites you to come and play with these little characters yourself and stage a scene of your own.
Rachel Farmer's studio is located in the neighborhood of Green Point, Brooklyn.
