Reason One, why Tegan and Sara bore me:
I cannot make it through the new album, Sainthood in one sitting. I can listen to a song here and there, but after playing about 3 songs in a row, I want to tear my ear drums out. Insert long and intelligently worded album review here with a main point that says the album is tired. I really liked T & S when I first came out of the closet, and then for about 5 years after that. I still feel an inexplicable obligation to continue listening to their music. In addition, I argue that most lesbians only like T & S because T & S are lesbians and they're cute and that cute lesbian musicians are few and far between.

Reason Two, why Tegan and Sara bore me:
Episode 1 of their new web series "Reflections"; Tegan stares into her reflection (get it?) in a mirror and reflects upon the day's events, such as this morning's jog, in a monotone voice with a look of severe boredom on her face. The reflections are interspersed with clips of Tegan jogging this morning. Tegan says "I think today is day 13 of the tour and it feels like day 1300." To me, musicians complaining about the hassles of touring (a European tour to boot) is the equivalent of celebrities complaining about not being able to go anywhere without being recognized. Cry me a river. You ride around in a posh tour bus with your friends and play in front of thousand of adoring fans. Get a day job if it sucks so badly. I fall asleep at 1min, 44sec.
Reflections - Episode 1 from Tegan and Sara.
Reason Three, why Tegan and Sara bore me:
Episode 2 of "Reflections"; Tegan is in the mirror mumbling in the same monotone voice that hypnotizes me into a daze. This time Sara is in the webisode. I try to decide who's hipster haircut is more annoying. I decide that I can't decide, nor do I care enough to decide. There's some blather about it taking 30 minutes to make Tegan an espresso this morning on the tour bus. Cut to shot of tour bus: one of their hipster dude entourage members is taking 30 minutes to make Tegan an espresso. I'm pretty sure I see a flat screen TV in the background. I puke at 2min 57sec.
Reflections - Episode 2 from Tegan and Sara.
Reason Four, why Tegan and Sara bore me:
Episode 3 of "Reflections"; Things seem semi-promising with footage taken on-stage of the audience and some backstage antics with a hipster dude entourage member. Tegan is wearing T & S merchandise, I'm not sure that it's meant to be ironic. I'm quickly bored and get distracted by a commercial on the TV in my living room. I realize I'd rather watch it than the rest of this webisode. I'm not sure when I stop paying attention...about halfway through?
Reflections - Episode 3 from Tegan and Sara.
There's no doubt that Tegan and Sara fans love "Reflections", but that means nothing; T & S fans would watch Tegan paint a wall and then watch that same paint dry. I will not tune in for future "Reflections", unless I'm having a hard time falling asleep and counting sheep isn't working.

First of all, hilarious blog. Second of all, sorry for straying off the "bus" topic.
I'm sure T & S and Lady Gaga are good people but I can't stand any of their music. Who do I give my queer card to because I'll clearly have to turn it in. I don't really know why T&S leave me cold -- all the younger girls I know just adore them, but they are what T&S are -- young girls, and I'm an old bat. Their music isn't unpleasant at all, it's just, I dunno ... not loud enough? As for the Gaga, meh I just never, ever liked disco. I have to admire Lady Gaga's activism, and in her interviews she comes off as a nice person.
I don't mind a couple of peeps up on a stage with just a guitar and drums, I know scads of people that do that stuff around Norman and the OU campus and they're all very very talented, but I'm from the punk/hardcore/ska school; that's what I grew up with, that's for whatever reason I stay with now that I'm old and set in my ways. But I pretty much appreciate everything except new style country. I'm particularly biased towards people I know who are musicians, and increasingly biased towards music from Oklahoma ... it's not all about Toby Keith (ugh) and the Flaming Lips around here. Plus, this month is the third annual Norman Music Festival, in which all manner of music (but usually indie rock) from Oklahoma and elsewhere is a reason to close Main Street and let the people take it over for all-day musicky fun.
FWIW, some recommendations from my neck of the woods:
http://www.thenonband.com (The Non is an experimental instrumental rock group whose members are spread out between Edmond and Norman that has released two albums: Paper City and the more recent Tadaima. As far as I'm concerned they're the best music group from Oklahoma right now. And yes, no lyrics - no singer. It's just pure sonic joy/mayhem).
http://pennyhill.bandcamp.com (Penny Hill is a singer songwriter from Norman. Her album Unbutton Your Heart can be streamed/purchased at that URL. She just concluded a tour of the upper Midwest and East Coast).
If Fe is the symbol for Iron, does that make women Iron Males?
hehe
I wondered, why is the "Tegan & Sara Bore Me" blog leading Most Popular again?.... Was there a sudden influx of *outraged* youthful lesbians with good haircuts??! ... alas no
But welcome soonerterp
Oh crap and I just tweeted it
... if only to irritate the kids. Hell, it's from November but as far as I'm concerned it's timeless.

I like the songs nineteen and back in your head....other than that I dont think I have much of an opinion of T&S....although I have to agree that the webisodes are lackluster...
I downloaded a few songs because I found out that as a Queer woman...the first question I got when the knowledge was discovered was who's youre favorite musician and answers like Jill Scott or Maxwell didnt really cut it...<sigh>
never again!
Lately I've felt It necessary to explore the world of current lesbian musicians and Tagan and Sara were on my to do list, but after watching that first Reflections video I don't think I can. Gosh that was awful! haha.

Well, after spending an hour on YouTube listening to them, I have to say I didn't hate them at all and I expected to. I actually liked the Hell video.

ALVIN!!!!
Tegan and Sara bore me 'cause they sound like chipmunks to me. I never said anything about it before because I thought the powers that be would try to revoke my Lesbian Card. Do you know how hard it was to get that card back when I was in college?
It is what it is.
Ruh oh... Ego
Preview of a hit single from Tegan and Sara's next album, should they continue at the rate of diminishing lyrics per song:
I don't.
I don't.
Don't know. Don't know.

I don't know if.

Mi succinct reponse:
HILARIOUS.
Civility is not a sign of weakness.
I love it!
It's like the lovechild of T&S and Gertrude Stein!
!
hahahahahahahahaha!
Funny
Bwaaaaaa! I'm pretty sure I've never listened to any of their songs, but after today I think I want to. Perverse. I know.

!!!
You really killed me with this one, Amy!! sssssooooor funny.
I skipped the T&S portion of my lesbian initiation but i've always wanted to know why people like them...
I love T & S
for the total characters that they are.
I can watch their onstage banter for days ... it's adorable, witty, hilarious ... plus they speak unabashfully to their audience about LGBT issues. Heck, I would go to their show just to hear them speak .... and then there's the fascinating wonder of twins (gay twins) ... fascinating!

Music is a matter of personal taste (obviously) ... I've tried my darndest to get into the required lesbian playlist ... some I love, some leave me bewildered or cold - that's music.
I can't get through an Ani Difranco song .... and I don't feel like a failed lesbian because of it
Required Lesbian Play List
She-he-he! It cracks me up when folks think there are queer requirements.
There aren't?
Now I'm really confused...

Amy, this really made me laugh. But I'm afraid to send the link to your blog to my pals, who are GAGA over T&S.
Civility is not a sign of weakness.
Bah! Ghuuk! BAHHHH!
I seen it Minnie! I SEEN IT!
My little gay (CANADIAN) heartstrings tightened up in little queer horror and anguish (my toes actually curled in reverse... kinda like that poor woman they dropped that house on in Kansas) and I actually steamed up a little around my left eye!
That's fine, it's okay, you don't need to love what I love, or do what I do.
I have tickets to their concert in January and I'm gonna go and scream like a thirteen year old at an Elvis or a Beatles Concert (or a Twilight Premiere) because: "I know I know I know, you're still my love" ~and~ "The same as I love you, you'll always love me too" ~because~ "This love isn't good unless it's me and you."

No, but I had a life size fold out album cover of Bobby Sherman, who I was sure was really a girl. I also followed Spock to his hotel after he played the king in Camelot at the Bevery Theatre in the Round.

Dolly
My mother bought tickets for us to see Dolly Parton back in the 80's and I threw a fit about going. But damned if she didn't put on the best concert I've ever seen.

One of the last concerts I've been to see was Bjork and my friend Scott and I danced like teenagers on a sugar rush when she sang "Big Time Sensuality". We were the oldest folks at the concert but didn't care because she was so f'ing awesome.

Funny that you both chose
Funny that you both chose "All is Full of Love" in which Robot Bjork makes love to another Robot Bjork.
Oh, and I goofed. We danced like teenagers to "Violently Happy". She performed "Big Time Sensuality" on a harpsichord all slowed down as an encore. She's awesome. You should check out "Dancer in the Dark", her acting debut, but only if you're prepared to be sucker punched about half way through after being bored nearly senseless for 45 minutes.
