Ellen and Portia know how to kill two birds with one stone. The couple was out this weekend Christmas shopping while fighting discrimination — the pair made a wonderful walking billboard for gay marriage. Now if only Obama could invite Ellen and Portia up on the podium behind Rick Warren as he gives the invocation. I think this could satisfy the gays.

You may not understand why I feel let down. It's about distortions Rover. It's about lies and manipulation.
I'm concerned, not just for myself,but also for the next generation.... They need to believe that not all politicians are compulsive, manipulative liars.
They are our future, their perception towards what is right and wrong... is displayed before them on a daily basis. Children see it in the news, lies as truth.....indirectly, this is what children are being taught.
Rover, you have a son. And, you know that his future, and his ability to trust, are based on 'example'. Right now, the 'adult' examples for him, and other young girls and boys, is not stellar by any means.
They (children) should never have to question what they view as hypocrisy. They should not be forced to experience it. And, ultimately, should not have to live a life based on it.....
Rov, you know that I am a positive person. I trust in humanity, and have a tremendous amount of faith in good. However, just saying things like:
"This is my message to you…don’t worry…"
Well...... what can I say? I believe in the positive power that God has for all of humanity, however I do know 'evil' when it's presented before me. Even, or maybe I should say........ especially when it's wrapped up the nice, well dressed, conservative form of a Pastor who teaches intolerance.
There is one thing that I do know Rover, being complacent and hoping that all of humanity will just magically come to understand one another, and live in a world of love and acceptance, is being blind to the reality of our existence. It won't just happen.....unless, we make it happen.
Understanding and tolerance, does not mean accepting hate and bigotry. It appears as though Mr. Obama does not find Pastor Rick Warren's ignorance and bigotry an issue. I find that, on Mr. Obama's behalf, extremely offensive.

On December 19, 2008, supporters of Proposition 8 filed briefs with the California Supreme Court to have all same-sex marriages performed in California during the time such marriages were legal annulled. Kenneth Starr, dean of Pepperdine University School of Law (yes, the same one the professor in the Yes on 8 as works at). joined the legal team seeking to have the marriages nullified.
Pepperdine University is a religious institution that receives federal and state taxpayer monies through student loans and grants. This is now the second widely publicized time that a senior faculty member of that university has used both their position and the school's name to promote Prop 8. Pepperdine continues to claim they have no position on Prop 8, despite having taken no steps to separate themselves from the actions of their senior faculty.
Starr, if you remember, was the Special Prosecutor appointed by a three judge panel (all GOP appointees) that spent over $6 million to prosecute then President Bill Clinton for lying about having consentual sex with an intern, Monica Lewinsky, in an unrelated civil lawsuit. He also spent nearly ten times that in the failed attempt to prosecute then First Lady Hillary Clinton in the Whitewater Investigation, as well as trying to portray the suicide of former deputy White House Counsel Vince Foster as a murder being covered up by the Clintons (along with thousands of other right-wing conspiracy theories).

It also appears Warren has a nasty habit of switching (often) versions of the Bible to suit the wording he is looking for. Warren cherry-picked the one out of eighteen rules that suited his purpose. One other rule mentions sex with animals, the remaining 16 are regarding adultery and incest. Funny how he and his ilk are obsessed with only the one regarding homosexuality, but ignore adultery. Perhaps that is because most of his congregation are into their second or third marriages, and teaching about what Jesus had to say on that topic might offend his wealthier patrons?
You have to love the cleverness and selective memories of such hypocrites. Thank God for hackers who will help them to remember, eh?

Something that I have been
Something that I have been wanting to say is, in the last few weeks I have been going through some major changes - and I know I might not seem like me, but this is a part of who I've always been.
I stand in the face of injustice and intolerance.
I wish I could share a clip with you of a movie I had caught about a week ago. It's one of the old silent/not so silent gems.
I caught the movie Godless Girl. And god, that was such a good movie. One of dialog screens flashed up...intolerance vs. intolerance. It was very touching and very poignant of a film for it's hay day.
Over the weekend i went to see a play. My stepdad had a small part in a local one night production - and it was an adaptation to Dickens' A Christmas Carol, which actually included Dickens (and family) while writing it - and beautiful songs from his characters within the story. Tears. Tears I tell you.
But at some point during the play, musical I should say, Ebenezer talks about misused opportunities. I was sooo thrown at how well that actor could act. And he's gay too.
I guess right now I'm open for love and acceptance and peace and possibilities, and there are things pointing in my life that are telling me to reach for understanding and chance, and not cut off possibilities for love and change.
I highly recommend watching Godless Girl if ever anyone has a chance. It was made and released in 1928, and in 1929 it was edited and rereleased. Apparently, Turner Classic Movies houses this every once in awhile, even on silent night.

The picture of Ellen and Portia is about simple truth. There are people who will hate them because of that, hate all of us and have no concept of equal rights. They actually believe men and women who want to marry do have equal rights and "homosexuals" are of no consequence in that discussion.
It's easy for us to see those people as ignorant, tyrannical and downright mean-spirited because of where we sit relative to the issue. They have as deep a conviction about what they believe as we do. What's important are the people who waver and are uncertain about all of this. That picture has most significance for us and the greatest impact for them. I have a hunch there are a lot more of them than there are of the mean-spirited ones. It's all a matter of time. We're nowhere near the end of this story.

Another thing that bums me out is - what is all the fuss about?? Someone PLEASE!!! explain it to me.
We are not asking for anything, we don't want one thing that every other American citizen has. It's not like were demanding something outragious, just the right and privileges afforded to every other citizen.
We don't get a tax break because we are under represented, we get to pay almost twice the taxes as our so called married counter parts and we get nothing in return.
I'm pretty sure that "All men/women are created equal" thing in the constitution doesn't say except gays/lesbians and trans does it????
We have to fight this in the courts, it is just flat out wrong.
Putting Ellen and Portia on the podium wouldn't change a thing for me, since I will not watch, participate in any way or contribute one more penny - ever....
