Dykes on Bike-Cycles Supports Queers for Economic Justice

To kick off 2011 Dykes on Bike-Cycles (DOBC), my favorite group of lady-loving cyclists, will be hosting a fundraiser-party to support Queers for Economic Justice (QEJ). Gingers in Park Slope, Brooklyn will host the event featuring a slew of performances by Arianne Benford, Sassafras Lowrey, Kay Ulanday Barrett, Kelli Dunham and Cheryl B., Melissa Li and the Barely Theirs, and Andrea Alton performing as Molly "Equality" Dykeman.

I don't know how those Dykes on Bike-Cycles do it, but they always host kick-ass parties that bring in all the good-looking ladies. Not only did they manage to snag some amazingly talented spoken word performers, musicians, and entertainers but they're doing it all as a fundraiser with QEJ to help put clothing on the backs of homeless queers in our community. Best thing, the whole thing is FREE! It ain't a fundraiser with out the funds so donations will be taken and remember to give as much as you can.

DOBC is encouraging you to "Butch it Up for QEJ" by bringing your new or gently used clothing for a butch in need. The ties you bought for that romp that hot weekend but never used again or the suspenders that have been hanging in your closet for ages. QEJ is taking all clothing donations from ties and suspenders to sweaters, collared shirts, belts, and trousers. Anything that is "masculine of center" will be accepted, and monetary donations are always needed. There will also be raffle prizes supplied by Babeland, RiotGrrrlInk, and Gingers Bar as well as some BBQ going on in the back yard.

There are a lot of lady parties going on in NYC and Brooklyn this weekend but you need to be at this one. Check out the Event Page on Facebook to RSVP or if you have questions or would like to donate something for the raffle e-mail DOBC at dykesonbikecycles[at]gmail.com
