If you have been watching American Idol this week, you will surely recall this new anthem for our time, interpreted here by the likes of Neil Young. Oh, Simon. Poor, sweet Simon Cowell. Your worst fears are coming true! Looks like this one could become a breakaway pop hit after all.
And if, perchance, you missed the original, you may want to watch it first:

Larry!
Grou - ound! There are no one sysllable words in the South!
I loved Larry - for whatever reason he was there, his piece was entertaining! If Larry is really Larry, Simon will do something with him 'cause he'll be a short time money maker.
They do need to lift the age limit for AI.

OMG!
I'm amazed at the talent of Jimmy Fallon! Now, let me go watch the other vid!

:(
It appears that the Idol producers had him there for the sole purpose of making fun of him..... I felt somewhat uncomfortable watching it.
Made me smile
Golly, it is amazing how we see things in different ways. That video of Larry and his song just made me smile. I made me want to say "Yay" for Larry! I'm old. I mean I am one of the old ones here at VPM. It just seemed fun to me.
Still searching for the right brainy quote.
Follow-up
I forgot to say that I think Larry will have the last laugh on this one.

I hate
the condescending, mocking attitude towards old/er people on TV.
We will all be old one day and who wants to be automatically dismissed or made to feel invisible? .... Not me. Argh.
..... Yet Larry just added something to the pop culture - imagine that?!
Well,
This portion of the Idol talent search is painful for me to watch........ Having been taunted and bullied, when I was a kid [ I stuttered ], makes it difficult for me to embrace the idea of exploiting humiliation for profit.
Yeah, me too ...
makes me overly-sensitive to these things ... I think those who were 'social achievers' as youngsters don't see it as that, they just view it as a chance for a good *chuckle* ...
They're usually the same people who tell others online to "lighten up", when one objects to political incorrectness
Idol
You should have been to the Idol auditions unreal , Very paiinful to watch. Having been there my self this year in orlando fl, with my daughter makes you wonder if this show is really for real. Thank goodness we had a fast pass, and didnt have to wait in line (in the rain) for days to get a 60 second audition, in front of a judge that had no music background at all . Thousands of people with so much talent one better than the next got told "better luck next year your not we are looking for ."
Peace out
Rosie
Rosie,
Your daughter is sooo talented, with or without Idol, she is destined to accomplish great things in her life.... her voice is beautiful.
* a big hug for you Rosie *
Now can we hear Neil Diamond
Now can we hear Neil Diamond cover the song?
lmao My bad! Too many Neils.

I'm hearing him sing it to
I'm hearing him sing it to the tune of 'Sweet Caroline'.
Actually, Fallon did a
Actually, Fallon did a dead-on Neil Diamond a week ago when he and Amy Adams (who can really sing!) did a karaoke version of You Don't Bring Me Flowers. I never realized 'til he got his own show what an incredible mimic Fallon is.
This guy is a local legend
This guy is a local legend here in Atlanta, and Simon and the other judges (I guess they had really no way of knowing) were patronizing to him. I felt kind of bad for the guy. I guess he felt stongly enough about the subject he had to go on national TV to talk about it, but maybe the show's producers should have clued the judges in on who this man was and what he means to the Atlanta area.
