Ilene Chaiken is writing again, and its not reality TV, or a spin off or any other other L Word related number. Chaiken is co-writing and and co-exec producing a drama adaptation of Confessions of a Backup Dancer. Confessions will be on the CW and not Showtime.
Confessions will be a loosely inspired by the teen novel of the same name. You did read that correctly, "loosely inspired."
From the Hollywood Reporter:
The CW is teaming with "The L Word" creator Ilene Chaiken for "Confessions of a Backup Dancer," a drama adaptation of Alloy Entertainment's book.
Two familiar CW names -- "One Tree Hill" creator Mark Schwahn and "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas -- also are featured on the network's development slate for next season, which includes hourlong projects from writers Jill Gordon and Kevin Murphy.
"Confessions," from Warner Bros. TV and Alloy, explores the glamorous and gritty behind-the-scenes world of a major pop tour from the point of view of the star's troupe of backing dancers. Chaiken is penning the project and exec producing with Les Morgenstein and Bob Levy.
