Combat Troops Leave Iraq

The last US combat troops have left Iraq, seven-and-a-half years after the invasion, and two weeks ahead of President Obama's deadline for withdrawal from the country.

The 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division rolled their convoy across the border in Kuwait marking the end of US combat operations.

This withdrawl is happing after former President G.W. Bush launched the invasion. Over the past seven years the war became increasingly unpopular and costly.

The Obama Administration pledged to withdraw troops to 50,000 by the end of this month. That means more that 6,000 troops must leave the region.

With a final withdrawal coming up at the end of next year Americans will be tasked in training Iraqi armed forces and police units.

Rachel Maddow finds a Desoto in Iraq. I wonder if she would respond to a picture of me in my 64 Dodge Dart.

Nice the 6K got to leave...

Iraq doesn't have a stable government in place yet - until that happens, our troops will be there....here's hoping for the 2012 withdrawal....I don't see it happening! Another  "trying to get elected say what you think they want to hear" political promise that just may bite...
