Chicago Teachers Strike

Yesterday 30,000+ teachers and union supporters took to the streets to protest Mayor Rahm Emanual's proposed reforms (ie, budget cuts) to the already suffering education system. The beginning of the strike coincided with the first day of school for many Chicago students—Chicago residents appear to be torn over the issue, sympathizing with teachers while at the same time lamentful of the fact that it is, in the end, the children who are missing out on an education.
