80% of Catholic Nuns in the United States are in revolt, so to speak. Lead by Sister Pat Farrell, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) have been questioning the Roman Catholic's Churches stance on gays and sexuality, contraception and abortion, and the role of women in Church hierarchy (the ordination of women in the priesthood.) In an effort to bring the Catholic Church into the 21st C. the LCWR is hoping to open a dialogue with the (all male) Church Hierarchy of Bishops and respond to current societal conditions. True to form Pope Benedict Ratzinger, Emperor of the Empire, in an effort to squelch any progress or reforms in a church plagued by sexual abuse, cover-ups and mis-conduct has appointed three male bishops to bring the nuns under control.

Bishop Leonard Blair, Archbishop Peter Sartain and Bishop Thomas John Paprocki have been put in charge of the LCWR to get them in line with the "Doctrine of the Faith." Which is basically a "put up or shut up" mandate by Bishops for the women on the front lines of these social issues. One of the many criticism voiced over the extreme lengths the Vatican has gone to get the sister's in line, is the lax attitude the Vatican took in the 100's of sexual abuse cases as well as the sheltering of pedophile priests.
