Carrie Prejean Throws a Solo Hissy Fit on Larry King

Carrie Prejean, threw a fit acted like a douche refused to answer Larry King's question regarding why she settled her recent law suit with Miss USA Pageant. Then when a gay caller asked her politely what she would tell her gay friends who want to get married she took off her mic and well... sat there, and huffed. When good girls go bad, the go really bad.

I am so GLAD

Poople get to see the person she really is ,Can she really be this stupid to think all her bad shit would not come out sex tapes and all.

Joanne Robertson's picture

I won't join the chorus of the internets, calling

Carrie "stupid" or a "dumb bitch" ... nor do I want to beat her.

I truly believe most people like Carrie, (although irritating as hell) just haven't 'come into their own' yet or have yet to learn the lesson ... like a child.  Sure, some never learn (Palin, Bachmann, Hasslebeck) ... but Prejean's young enough to make a change.

Basically, she's immature and has had a major dose of heterosexist privilege injected into her by her surroundings i.e. church, parents & pageant world.  Carrie's parents battled custody for over a decade ... that must have cemented some seriously narrow views of what she considers a 'true' family unit.

I'm still interested in what's up with her Air Force sister, the "gay rights activist" ... there could be a Liz & Mary Cheney thing going on Smile

What has been missing from this storm in a teacup is a REAL interview.  One with depth and questioning from someone who is able to have a conversation and get to the heart of Carrie's core beliefs & issues ... there doesn't seem to be much middle ground in the media between asking questions in a snarky accusatory tone, or (in the case of Fox "news") a verbal masturbation session with Sean Hannity.

Carrie apparently made a number of tapes, which begs the deeper questioning of why attempt any fame based career, when you know there are sex tapes floating around of you out there? ... Even if carrie had only won the pageant, this would have been front page news ... boob pics are one thing, but sexy time film is another ... that's like the ultimate self sabotage for a pageant girl Innocent

Or there are some people who

Or there are some people who are just plain dumb.  And she may well be one of them.  Sad, but true.

Joanne Robertson's picture

I try to remember myself

at 22 Shock

I consider that age as still very much being a 'kid' ... and I wouldn't call a kid "stupid".  It's a mistake to write off young homophobes.  There's still hope.

We forget the pressures of that age to people please ... and I guess it depends on how confident & assertive you are, at that time.

I remember laughing along with people around me, who made derogatory comments about lesbians & feminists ... all the while I was chewing away on feminist books (totally unconscious) ... at 35, here I am - a Velvetpark Dyke.  Life's a journey Smile

But back to Carrie ... she obviously has the confidence to stand up at a conservative event and give a speech, but one look at her in that interview (looking off camera for guidence) and it's obvious she's handed all her power over to her "advisors" ... big mistake.

Not2Taem's picture

The difference between 2 and 22

Two year olds are young. Twenty-two is a whole other deal. If she is going to spout crazy-ass shit, she needs to be prepared for the back lash. This business of putting your nose in the air and refusing to answer anything that doesn't make your shit smell like roses has gotten so tiresome. And I'm not just talking about Carrie or the right wing. It has become routine for folks to act like contrary preschoolers.

Robin Rigby's picture

I'm 47 so it's been a long

I'm 47 so it's been a long time since I was 22 but I wasn't like her.  I wasn't talking smack about gays or feminists.  I was dumb in regards to I didn't really understand how the world worked, not having been in it much yet.  So, while I would agree that 22 year olds are kids and therefore not always very bright there are varying degrees of stupidity and this woman unfortunately is on the low end of the scale.

Joanne Robertson's picture

I wonder

if we - (we) meaning Perez & 'the movement' had approached this differently ... If someone like GLADD had just come out and calmly said that she was entitled to her personal opinion (high road), how different this would be.

When you look at the big picture of how all this started, Perez & Trump (who knew what he was doing) created havoc & ultimately Perez caused his own community damage - creating a "monster".  I use the word "monster" not about Carrie, but in terms of how 'Carrie' turned into it's own anti-gay movement ... Enabling Fox "news" an opening to devote a hundred hours of air time to hating on LGBT, and allowing them to turn the tables and say WE are the "intolerant" ones ... because to conservatives watching tv, that is exactly how it appeared.

This will probably be a case of 'the more we pressure, the stauncher & more entrenched she will get in her "beliefs" about LGBT'... as is often the case with the human condition.

We need to pick our battles better ... she was after all, just a beauty pageant contestant answering a question.

Hi Joanne

I always enjoy reading your posts. What a video clip! O.O

DAMN

Robin Rigby's picture

If she feels it's okay to

If she feels it's okay to take the national stage of the pageant to express homophobic views, then I say it's okay for us to call her on it.  If it's appropriate for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to make a comment (as you stated) then doesn't that imply that she was defaming us?  And don't we then have the right to defend ourselves?

Perez probably asked her that question as a way to instigate, instigation is his raison d'etre but that doesn't change the fact that she had an opportunity to give an enlightened answer or to show more tolerance since.  Faux News would have found some other homophobe to put on the air if she wasn't around.  They don't need an excuse to devote a hundred hours of air time to attacking gays, liberals, and all of their other enemies.

Joanne Robertson's picture

Was it worth it?

I don't think it was ... of course, we always have the right to defend ourselves, but there are bigger fish to fry.

GLADD or HRC would have (no doubt) been consulted immediately by media for their opinion on Prejean's 5 seconds.  Gay rights groups are often not quick to respond to things or they pick fights & draw attention to the wrong things (imo).

Do we really believe South Park will suddenly get enlightened and change it's 'humour' & portrayal of LGBT? ... I could hear the SP team (grown men) high five-ing each other from here in NZ, after GLADD made that statement expressing disproval Laughing out loud

Maybe HRC/GLADD should complain about the lack of gay men on Deadliest Catch?!! ... some things truly are lost causes & should be ignored Oups

PS. I'm not picking a fight with you Robin, I'm just sounding off and thinking that we should concentrate on the big stuff ... because the "little" anti-gay things don't appear to be going away anytime soon Smile

Robin Rigby's picture

Agreed, GLAAD commenting

Agreed, GLAAD commenting about South Park was ridiculous.  Prejean isn't a TV show that's designed to be offensive.  She's a real person who said something really stupid.  It's been a few months, GLAAD may very well have said something at the time, I don't recall.

This new story is just making all of us who were annoyed at her back then take a little joy in karma.

foamy2's picture

REALLY?!

What a child. I mean I cant categorize myself as a mature adult by any means but taking off the mic to avoid the very questions that pretty much handed her that stupid ass book deal is just unreal!  It's funny how these ultra-conservatives can't even rationally argue their own 'beliefs'.

$1000 for anyone who punches her in the face.

Annie Oaklee's picture

Well, my last comment here

Well, my last comment here got deleted, my, my...and all I did was quote you!

So let me try this:

$1000 for anyone who punches her in the face.

How many lesbian women do you think internalize the patriarchy's hatred for women? Have you noticed that this thread – which bashes a beautiful blond woman as being stupid and worthy of being punched in the face – has more hits than any other thread posted on the homepage?

Do you ever ask yourself if it's possible for women to unite when there actually are women who are so different in some of their values than ours? Do you care? Or is it fine if women show no loyalty to each other but instead apply the same misogynistic freedom-stifling tactics to each other that the good ol' boys use to keep women "in their place"?

Can we unite in our willingness to see other women as stupid and worthy of targeting for violence?

Gee... wonder how many people would like to do the same to us...

bekcat's picture

Personally, I don't know if I

Personally, I don't know if I would characterize Carrie Prejean as "stupid"...just ill-equipped to deal with intelligent people.

I am not sure if there is a movement in this thread necessarily to perform some violent act against her.

The point of our disgust with her is she is more than willing to voice her opinion about gay marriage.  Fine...she's entitled.  But, if anyone else has a dissenting point of view (again, one is entitled), and she plays the victim card.  No one understands her...she's being unfairly attacked...boo hoo waa waa.  If you want to take on a grown-up's topic like this, then you'd better be ready for a grown-up's debate...otherwise, let it go.  We probably would have forgotten about her a long time ago if she had just let it go after the pageant was over.

Just my two cents.  For whatever it's worth.

It is what it is.

I just cannot wait until this game this afternoon.  Are you going to watch it?

It is what it is.

Tex's picture

Absolutely!

Haven't been this excited about a women's BBgame since the Lady Techsters and Lady Vols used to play when the games were #1 deciders!

bekcat's picture

I predict...

Gonna be a great game.  I think Griner might get a couple of dunks off.  I also think Kelley Cain controls her for the most part.  I think Griner sits on the bench a good bit in this one (in foul trouble).  I think UT wins in a close one.

It is what it is.

Tex's picture

I predict....

the play of the six and seven (bench play) will be the decider! Hope Kim takes the reins off and lets her dunk away! On that subject, been wondering who is going to assist her in the setup....the pass and dunk!

bekcat's picture

Mulkey's got plans for her

and has already got one play drawn up for Griner to dunk.  I'm sure she has more.  Who wouldn't?  Griner has like an 86" wing span.  Doesn't matter who feeds it to her...if she is in position, she'll get it.

I agree about bench play.  On our end, it depends on which Lady Vol bench shows up.

Keep an eye on Taber Spani for the Lady Vols...earned her starting spot despite being a freshman.  Could be the next Tamika Catchings (or better).

It is what it is.

Tex's picture

Us...

Freshman tit for tat -  Mariah Chandler off the bench.....BUT, Melissa Jones makes or breaks the game!

bekcat's picture

Right about Jones...if any

Right about Jones...if any team keyes on Griner too much, Jones will win the game for Baylor.

It is what it is.

Joanne Robertson's picture

...

"We probably would have forgotten about her a long time ago if she had just let it go after the pageant was over."

or, if we had just let it go

Unfortunately, I think we (the gays) are as responsible for creating this media "monster", as the right wing who embraced her into the fold.

I doubt she will disappear back into obscurity now ... expect to see her on Dancing With The Stars, charming the mainstream all across America.

Not2Taem's picture

Annie,

I don't go with the punching comment either, but other than that, you are way off base. The reason this thread is getting so much business has nothing to do with women dissing women and everything with lesbians dissing a hater.

haha thanks for the defense... i think u understood my point a little more.  i merely threw the punching comment in to add to the emphasis as well as to portray my feelings towards that woman.  i mean.. there are tons of people id like to punch.. jon gosselin and balloon boys dad being biggies! i apologize for my apparent barbaric nature Smile

Tex's picture

Did someone say Barbarians?

Barbarians were members of a group, weren't they? We are members of a sort of clan here.

Since I've been on an English kick here the last couple of days, I will continue.....Barbarian, as a word, is onomatopoeic - the bar-bar. Soooooo, I guess as a clan we could be an onomatopoeic group called Parkparkians? The park-park representing the hubbub written here that is not understood?!?!

Voting and literacy....

Here are the seven questions as they appeared on the Nov 3rd ballot in Maine:

Question 1 (People's Veto Question): "Do you want to reject the new law that lets same-sex couples marry and allows individuals and religious groups to refuse to perform these marriages?"

Question 2 (Citizen Initiative): "Do you want to cut the rate of the municipal excise tax by an average of 55% on motor vehicles less than six years old and exempt hybrid and other alternative-energy and highly fuel-efficient motor vehicles from sales tax and three years of excise tax?"

Question 3 (Citizen Initiative): "Do you want to repeal the 2007 law on school district consolidation and restore the laws previously in effect?"

Question 4 (Citizen Initiative): "Do you want to change the existing formulas that limit state and local government spending and require voter approval by referendum for spending over those limits and for increases in state taxes?"

Question 5 (Citizen Initiative): "Do you want to change the medical marijuana laws to allow treatment of more medical conditions and to create a regulated system of distribution?"

Question 6 (Bond Issue): "Do you favor a $71,250,000 bond issue for improvements to highways and bridges, airports, public transit facilities, ferry and port facilities, including port and harbor structures, as well as funds for the LifeFlight Foundation that will make the State eligible for over $148,000,000 in federal and other matching funds?"

Question 7 (Constitutional Question): "Do you favor amending the Constitution of Maine to increase the amount of time that local officials have to certify the signatures on direct initiative petitions?"

If the state of Maine, generally speaking, thinks its citizens read and comprehend between a sixth and eighth grade reading level, why in the world would they word voting questions at a much higher level? I'm an educated somewhat literate woman - they confuse me!

Take a look at this link found on the Maine gov. website:

www.maine.gov/dhhs/boh/IRB/IRB intranet/readguid.doc

Clearly the state of Maine needs to consult within their own for literacy purposes....

BIG EDIT!!!! copy and paste the above link - from www all the way to .doc - I can't get it to hyper to save my life - sorry!

My reaction

I have been thinking about our Gay Rights.

I have been thinking about Health Care Reform.

I have been thinking about Afghanistan.

I have been thinking about our soldiers and their service to our country.

I have thought for two seconds about Lindsay Lohan.

I have NOT been thinking about Carrie Prejean. At all. Up until this moment.

She admires Michele Bachmann??? Ick. Just ick.

Kelly McCartney's picture

Wow.

She's even more ridiculous than I thought.

Carollani's picture

Go Away!

She has really done her best to follow in the footsteps of her hero, Sarah Palin. I can't wait until she's done with her book tour and just fades into the pop culture duldrums.  Larry was absolutely correct in that a person's motivation isn't covered by the confidentiality of a settlement.  The gay caller was just icing on the cake.  What a tool.

Grace Moon's picture

that was really the clincher

the gay caller was being totally sincere and, I thought, polite!

Okay mabye Larry can seem like a dirty old man, digging for the dirt in the interview, but the gay caller wasn't. She seemed so caught up in her own drama, she probably thought the gay guy was a plant, and it was a "gotcha" piece.

at the very end though, i was trying to figure out if it was her publicist in the background who was urging her to put the mic back on becuase she turned the interview into a huge disaster.

tweet me tweeps @gracemoon

Not2Taem's picture

Before the caller

She took the mic off before the call. I looked to me like she decided to dig her heals in well before that. I wouldn't be surprised if she, and quite possibly her publicist or whoever she was talking to, decided on the move before the interview even began.

Annie Oaklee's picture

not naive

the gay caller was being totally sincere and, I thought, polite!"

Calls are always screened beforehand, and they are used to serve the show's dramaturgy.

It's not called a talk SHOW for nothing.

Do we even know that the caller was someone outside the studio? We do not. It was not a "coincidence" that this caller confronted Carrie with gay marriage, the hot button topic we all know she's against. Which our pres is also against. So why is the relatively powerless Carrie getting bashed on this site – who spoke without a teleprompter btw – while the powerful POTUS, the Dems, the DNC (all of whom have not stood up for gay and women's equality) are continuously given a free pass?

Carollani's picture

What A Weird Comment

Um, they're not given a free pass. We're continually trying to hold them accountable for their two-faced attitude about gays and lesbians.

And why, exactly, would Carrie have a teleprompter in an interview? Is that a badge of courage? Heh. She's not giving a speech, she's answering questions, er... supposed to be answering questions.  Why is Carrie being bashed on this site? Because she's a misogynistic, homophobic, hipocritical, ignorant little a-hole that continues to push her moral supremacy to the general population.

By the way, that debocle derailed her press, and her book tour has been cancelled.

Tex's picture

let me point out,

Your tone is acceptable here. If you can continue on Vp with this level of calm I have no problem with you and your opinions. If you go back to raising the level of your discourse and inciting people, either your comment or you will be deleted.

That said. In regards to the comment above, I'll give you the fact the caller was most definitely screened. Still was her reaction OK to you? Why should anyone be offended when asked what they would tell gay people about gay marriage. She simply could have said "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman." I think her huffing made her look really inappropriate.

Also agree the abortion issue is messed up, and I blame the DNC strategy of getting all those blue dogs elected in 06, they might have well just let red districts stay red.
