Bad News From The North Pole

Bad News From The North Pole

The Earth's temperature has been increasing 0.23 degrees per decade causing 2 trillion tons of land ice in Greenland, Antarctica and Alaska to melt. Scientist fear that not only will the natural habitats of wild life be destroyed but the affect of human interaction will continue to adversely affect many already endangered species. This breaking news from Anchorage:

When will we learn? How can

When will we learn? How can we continue to destroy our planet, and kill the innocent life on it. We, so arrogantly, believe that there will be no serious repercussions to our blatant disregard to the scientific knowledge directly available to us...... Whether it's the earth, or it's inhabitants - we should be ashamed of our behavior, and lack of compassion. What is happening to us........ where has our sensibility gone? Our understanding of right and wrong. Does anyone even know what the word 'wrong' means anymore......

... its truly depressing.

As much as I'm disappointed in Obama's Invocation choice -- at least its just a momentary appointment (we hope).

I'm heartened by the fact he has scientists leading his energy cabinet and NOAA.

Now that's funny! I guess

Now that's funny! I guess Santa will have to fly VFR this year, lol!

From what I've read last summer, Santa better get a seaplane. Next summer, the polar ice cap at the north pole is supposed to vanish. Unconfirmed rumors have it the oil companies plan on exploring the area for oil and natural gas if that comes to pass.

As for Antarctica, check out this link:

http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/ice_berg_ram.html

The iceberg, B15a was as big as Long Island. It was expected to ram another ice formation, but the thing is so huge it ran aground in waters that ships can navigate in. The link above is from 2004-2005. The following winter, the berg supposedly broke up. This is not a good thing, since the breakup exposes more surface area to warmer waters, and speeds the melting of fresh water into the ocean. That much fresh water can radically alter ocean currents, and result in further radical shifts in global climate. As you can see from the photo-animation, the glancing blow to another ice formation caused a huge section to shatter, dumping even more fresh water into the ocean.
