Airin' the Dirty Laundry

If anyone's surprised or embarrassed by Obama calling Kanye a jackass, then how about Bush Dub speculating about having Hillary's "fat a**" in the White House or Joe Biden being the "billionaire of bullsh*t." Yeah no joke, those gems and others are spilt in the latest memoir from the Bush White House, by former speech writer Matt Latimer.

Latimer's Speech-Less: Tales of a White House Survivor, which goes on sale later this month is a tell all of the last 22 months in the Bush White House, from the Iraq surge to the economic meltdown.

GQ has reprinted a few excerpts — a rather amusing read on the anniversary of the Lehman collapse, and I dare say, how unsurprising the shocking incompetence was:

“This is the last bullet we have,” the president said at one point, referring to the bailout. “If this doesn’t work…” He shook his head, and his voice trailed off. That wasn’t good enough for me. If this doesn’t work, then what? We’re done? America is over? I looked around at everyone else. What does that mean?

Ed and the president decided to give a prime-time address to the nation, and Vice President Cheney was sent to the Hill to argue for our bill (a bill he may or may not have believed in) and was apparently hammered by House Republicans. Hours before the president was to speak to the country, Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign informed Josh Bolten that McCain was going to phone the president and urge him to call off the address and instead hold an emergency economic summit in Washington. If the president did speak that night, the McCain campaign didn’t want him to outline any specific proposal.

Of course, this threw the proverbial monkey wrench into our plans—and at the eleventh hour. I overheard the president call McCain’s plan “a stunt.” Dana Perino said the negotiations were nearly over, and suddenly he was going to swoop in and muck things up? The president’s political adviser, Barry Jackson, was blunt, calling McCain a “stupid prick.”

The economic team came in. Ed Gillespie, the president’s top communications adviser, came in. Tony Fratto, the deputy press secretary, was there. At one point there were twelve people crowded around our computer, trying to explain how the proposal worked. The economic advisers were disagreeing with each other.

Ugh ...

“This is a dangerous world,” he said for no apparent reason, “and this cat isn’t remotely qualified to handle it. This guy has no clue, I promise you.” He wound himself up even more. “You think I wasn’t qualified?” he said to no one in particular. “I was qualified.”

Delusions of grandeur, right there!

Who We're Dealing With

In 8 states—and the District of Columbia—being a victim of domestic abuse is considered a preexisting condition by many insurance companies. Yes, you can be denied coverage if you're a battered spouse.

It just blows my mind

I am just as skeptical about Obama as any other politician, but I don't understand how people act like everything is Obama's fault. Were they asleep the last 8 years? Do they not remember the money HEMORAGHING out of this country during that time? Do they not remember the Bush bailouts the end of '08 that was close to a trillion?

WTF

Mine too

When I saw that mini-march in DC this weekend I thought, 'only in America would dimwits protest its citizens having adequate health care.'

Money for bombs and war--sure!!  Money for tax cuts so the wealthy can have more money--sure!  Money for healthcare?  'You're bankrupting my grandchildren.'  Sheesh.  Can't we just let 'em all secede already??

Fakes and liars

Yes, please let them secede since they're a drain on the federal budget anyway.

Not only did they lie about the size of their "crowd" they passed around a faked photo:

Thanks for that link

Many people (me included) don't trust a lot of media because it's owned by big money corps, who I'm sure have no agenda, right? And then in this link even though they are giving false information about this rally, they make it seem like most media is "liberal" and not to be trusted. So. I guess what is happening is trying to make sure we don't, or can't, trust ANYTHING. Therefor we are further paralyzed into inaction and stupor.

The Bush Years in 15 words or less.

W: “Why did I sign on to this proposal if I don’t understand what it does?”

Criminy I'm missing Molly Ivins right now. Imagine what she'd do with that quote?
