27 February: The Monday Mix: Catch Up on Yer Culture

It's Monday. I'm still working through #Plague2012 and would love to hibernate throughout the remainder of winter. But—BUT!—there's plenty to talk about, including the Oscars.

Or, maybe not, because, to be honest, the Oscars were such a SNOOZEFEST. Blarg. Perhaps it’s because there were a dearth of women nominated for writing and directing? Or, as IndieWire put it so finely in the below video:

My favorite movie this year was Jimmy Kimmel’s Movie: the Movie--because where else can you see (Oscar winner!) Meryl Streep don a mustache?

In non-Oscar news: Texas Judge Tonya Parker is making waves after she was filmed telling a local group of Stonewall Democrats in her state that "I don't perform marriage ceremonies because we are in a state that does not have marriage equality and until it does, I'm not going to partially apply the law to one group of people that doesn't apply to another group of people.... And it's kind of oxymoronic for me to perform ceremonies that can't be performed for me, so I'm not going to do it."

And, only in Boston: three lesbians are being charged with a “hate crime” for kicking the CRAWP out of a gay guy....yeah, totally:

What to read? Besides William Broad’s yoga book Grace Moon mentioned in her post: Over 60 active members of the OWS movement have penned Occupying Wall Street: The Inside Story of an Action that Changed America, which is now available online through OR Books’ website:

Interesting news

Hard to ignore those numbers for women in Hollywood.

Movie: The Movie, yeah! LOL!

Good on the Judge.

Marcie, the first thing I wondered about the fight between the three girls and the guy and this entire escalation, is the guy white?

I really cannot believe this book is coming out and how have "they" changed America? Wow.
