I'm Just A Bill

Today the New York Assembly passed the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act by 97-38 votes. GENDA updates existing anti-discrimination laws in New York to prohibit transgender discrimination in the work place, housing, public accommodations and credit, and will now move on to the state Senate.

GENDA passed the Assembly in 2008, but was stalled in the Senate.

Today the House Judiciary Committee passed the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which was first introduced in 1997, now it moves on to the House for a floor vote. In 2007, the Senate voted to pass the bill, but the House rejected it.

2009 is a new year...
