Caroline Kennedy Withdraws Bid for Senate Seat

Last night, after some delish Latin food and drink in the Slope (This place called Bogota on 5th has happy hour all night on Wednesdays! And for those of us fucked over by the economy without a job to report to on Thursday, this hits the spot.), I opened up my homepage (The New York Times) to find that Caroline Kennedy had withdrawn her bid for the New York senate seat previously held by Hillary Clinton.

I was shocked by this news, but my partner who was across the room and also on her computer was reading something from the Associated Press that said Kennedy was wavering but had not actually withdrawn. The Women’s Media Center hooked me up with a link to Gawker.com that cleared things up. Yes, it is true. Ms. Kennedy has withdrawn her bid. But it is more complicated that just that. As the Village Voice explains, Kennedy is part of one of Mayor Bloomberg’s power plays. There is a pending fear that Bloomberg might run against Paterson for governor, and if Paterson were to elect Kennedy (someone that Bloomberg strongly supports), it would be the sign of an alliance between Paterson and Bloomberg. Read the Voice article for the nitty gritty details about New York politics. And you thought you were just rooting for a Kennedy.

It is time for the change of 'power' - Kennedy and Bush - real change has begun with no dynasty intact.

If a man who can't put one

If a man who can't put one coherent sentence together, even with cue cards and a phonetically written speech right in front of him, can become president AND keep the job for eight years... Hell, half the words he used he simply made up!

I'll take "you knows" over that any day.

Whenever Bush went on TV and went off script, the stock market dropped 50-100 points, and then would rebound once he stopped speaking. I caught that trend, and won more bets that way... Smile

I think if Caroline wants to

I think if Caroline wants to be in politics then she should get her hands into it...perhaps starting a bit lower...and actually run for office.

The way I took her stance for all those years, was she was the one in that family who didn't care to follow in the foot steps...

She wasn't a wild one..nor was she the politician. She did her own thing.

If she ran and we got to see her in action...I'd like to say she would be the one to actually give Camelot a good name again.

But I want her to earn a seat...not handed a seat.

Caroline, get in there and start showing us the new politician way...

I feel bad for her ... She

I feel bad for her ...

She didn't seem to have that loud 'gift of the gab' required for that life (and to handle the media).

Being a quiet achiever made her an unfair target. Faux News was picking on everything she said (Bastards).

Still searching for the right brainy quote.
